I became acquainted with Sasha of Meraki Salon & Barbershop after she got in touch about needing brand assistance for her business. The company, originally known as Moxie Hair Shop, had recently expanded and a new appearance was needed. Sasha explained the trouble was finding something gender neutral. She wanted to avoid using typical elements like shears, combs, razors, etc in the design as it was a high end establishment and needed to reflect this. The name Meraki was chosen because of it's meaning - to love what you do and to leave a piece of yourself in your work. The salon uses Davines products, which are about taking care of the earth, recycling and giving back. This was an important aspect to consider when brainstorming a direction. Below is what was created.
